Generating and selecting ideas was influenced by the literature on environmental education and The IPCC reports.
The themes and ideas directly relate to the cross curricular priority, Australian Curriculum: Sustainability
The first 8 episodes are backstories on all the characters and align with the 8 core learning areas of the Australian Curriculum: English, Maths, Science, The Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, Technologies and Languages.
All the characters have been victims of environmental mismanagement and each episode reflects this.
The key messages I would like to convey throughout, which aligns with the Australian Schools Curriculum on Sustainability is:
1. It’s easy being green.
2. Our actions affect animals
3. Our actions affect The Earth
4. Our actions affect our clean water/oceans-ecosystems
5. Misinformed decisions may cause recyclable materials to end up in the ‘Great Big Pit Of No Return’.
6. What we can do as individuals
7. What we can do collectively _ Join the Junior Rangers as a start – Make a pledge.
8. How we can link with schools, governments and rest of society.
